Walter Bryan Jones Hall contains the Alabama State Oil and Gas Board and the Geological Survey of Alabama. Though part of the University community, the building is owned by Alabama's state government.
W. B. Jones Hall is named for Dr. Walter Bryan Jones, who served for 35 years as the Geological Survey's director.
